SAWA SAWA means ‘it will be okay’ in Swahili. We are a black woman founded durable, nonprofit fashion brand in Austin Texas. Our bags and accessories are handcrafted by women in Kenya using organic, natural, sisal fiber in an ancient craft.

Our mission is to empower the artisan women make a durable, dignified income while creating a high end, intricately woven, elegant, earth conscious. Look Good – Do Good.

What problem are we solving?

Our products are handmade by artisan women in Kenya using natural, earth conscious materials in an ancient African craft. We empower women through economic freedom while creating a durable, organic fashion brand.

How are you a durable fashion brand?

Our bags are designed and crafted using natural, organic fiber durably harvested from the agave plant. We partner with women in rural Kenya in their natural to create properly made, fair, slow fashion bags. Every piece is made with love.
